Six of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

No one has ever become poor by giving.
Anne Frank

Generosity, fair exchange, balance of giving and receiving support, Charity invested wisely

Overview

Regaining stability; Charity

Regaining your footing after a time of trouble and calamity, you are climbing your way back up the social ladder. The belts may still be tight around your resources, but you’re on the up and up. Learn a valuable lesson in measuring once and cutting once, and double check your numbers with your resources in the future.

There are solutions to your problems, and you are looking at your options and catching up to your fall back. There could be some more mis-steps but nothing that will derail you like before. Keep balancing your money and tracking your spending. Gain that material power that will bring you to your highest level of happiness. If you are still coming up short there is no crime asking for help.

On the other hand, if you find yourself with some surplus and someone you love is reaching out for help, it advises that you should. Have mercy on them, if you have the resources to help. Karma will repay you for your assistance even if they do not.

Symbolism

A wealthy, robed merchant stands on a stone platform, holding a balanced scale in one hand while distributing coins from the other to two kneeling, ragged supplicants below. Six golden pentacles are arranged in the air (three above, three below). The scene shows charity, generosity, giving and receiving, or power dynamics in resource distribution.

Meaning

Balance of giving and receiving support,

This card can go either way in terms of “giving” or “receiving” resources or support. It’s definitive meaning comes down to the cards surrounding it. This is the card of charity, where you are offered assistance or in the position to offer assistance to others. There maybe gifts and presents flowing, and people are feeling very giving.

Charity invested wisely

If you are in the position for giving, it suggests supporting people you need, invest in the community, or perform random acts of kindness. This is a time to share the wealth and help others. When you help others, do it without the expectation of getting anything back.

You get what you give, even if it does not come back the way it went in.

Generosity

It also is a humbling card, as it asks you to temper your ego and ask for help. People won’t know you need help unless you express your disdain. It’s a card about showing your weakness’s. Exposing vulnerability for other people in order to get the help that you need.

Fair exchange

Someone may employ you to help you out, or you may receive support from community resources, charities, or people. There could be people willing to invest in your vision, or your life. They want to see you be happy; they want to see you succeed. Accept the help and the experience. Be grateful and gracious.

The Six of pentacles Reversed

“Beware of those who are generous with advice, but stingy with support.”

Power imbalance, conditional help, unequal exchange, dependency

Overview

Oop, you gotta be quicker than that! Someone has you wrapped around their pentacle, and they’re baiting you to continue performing for their warped circus. You’re barely surviving, is it worth the meager corns to perform seemingly incredulous acts?

Meaning

Power imbalance

Someone here holds all the wealth, and they’re exploiting it to their utmost privilege or ego.

Conditional help

Ultimatums are fraught with this card. Someone will only help you if you meet certain criteria. You’ll have to jump through hoops to be recognized for your struggle

Unequal exchange

Slavery is still a modern concept, and in this sense you are a slave to another person. The work you contribute is vast compared to the meager assistance someone is willing to offer. It maybe necessary to seek other venues

Dependency

Without someone else, you would have nothing. All your gain is someone elses wealth. You are entirely dependent on this person to show you mercy, and if they don’t you’ll have nothing.
