Overview

Characteristics

The simplest of all the authorities, his actions are committed, persistent and methodical. This is the hardest working of all the kings, and probably the only monarchy who was a civilian before his rise in power. Like Atlas, he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. All the burdens of everyone he adores sits in this world, and he fights hard to carry them, so they do not have to. Loyal to a fault, he would die to know his loved ones are safe. The looming reality of this grand responsibility can give them a damned outlook on life.

Unlike the wands and queen who drive for social status, it came to this king naturally. This makes him the most comfortable in his point of authority than any other. People turn to them because of their stable and balanced energy. Negatively, he can be stubborn and hard headed on their views. He delegates in order to avoid the hard work, does the minimum and are materialistic. Sometimes the materialism can be higher on the list of priorities than his family or lovers.

Symbolism

A prosperous king sits in a vineyard throne adorned with bulls (Taurus/earth). He holds a pentacle and scepter; grapes and flowers symbolize wealth, security, success, generosity, and mastery of the material world.

Always remember that planned approaches are the easiest way to success, and let your experience guide you. Continue to work hard, and care for others by offering your time, advice and wisdom. A lot of people may turn to you for advice or expertise in the future

This card can go both ways, in the wake of your success you maybe too materialistic and holding on too tightly to resources. This can be due to anxieties or greed. You could be using it to manipulate others.

The King of Pentacles reversed

“They have succeeded in accumulating a greater mass of objects, but the joy in the world has grown less.”
― Fyodor Dostoevsky

Materialism, greed, rigidity, Hollow success

Overview

The king of pentacles reversed is someone whose entire image is based around their stuff, and they don’t even like any of it. In fact they likely hate a majority of it. What do they love? The social standing, the power, the wide eyes full of glitter at the sight of the Rolex they can’t afford.

Meaning

Materialism

This king might as well have the Midas touch, everything they touch seems to transform into gold.Though they are likely one of the most miserable people you will ever meet as a result. They hardly ever smile, or laugh.

Everything they are is to tout the status symbol of wealth. They feel no joy in their success and they are likely exhausted beyond words from the rat race. So much so they cannot even enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Greed

Due to their high value life they can barely afford, this king doesn’t do altruism. They look at charity like a waste of time and resources.

“Needy? Poverty stricken? Why don’t you just pick yourself up from your boot straps….”

Rigidity

Don’t expect an ounce more than this king owes you. No matter what it is; their time, money or mercy. They will be having none of it.

Hollow Success

Overall the theme of this king is how miserable they are, including in their endeavors. Sure, they climbed Everest but they didn’t enjoy themselves doing it. Yeah, they are the CEO of everything, but it doesn’t matter to him.

Ok, he has the Midas touch, so what? He turned his own heart into solid gold and now he can’t feel it beat anymore.
