Overview

The inner light that guides us

Inside yourself is a light that never goes out; it’s the north start during your new moon. A compass that guides you through the troubles of life. It is the source of your soul and what keeps your heart beating when you are in a million pieces. Follow your light to your sanctuary, recover from cataclysm. Find a moment of peace to find your radiance and seek its guidance to find the road you lost.

Symbolism

Eight stars; seven white one yellow are in a blue sky that kisses the mountains on an open landscape. On this plane, there is only one small hill with a shrub on it, a small bird amongst its leaves. Before the tree is a woman completely nude, with two vases in her hands. Her foot is positioned on the water, as if it was the earth. One vase pour water into the water she stands on and the other nurtures the shore behind her. While she is vulnerable, she knows this is her safe place, so she has no fear here.

Meaning

Optimism brims your cup to a hopeful fault. Your confidence has turned idealistic that the universe has your back. Floating around on auto-pilot, you are enjoying life through rose colored goggles. There is a level of detachment present, you are not seeing reality, so you are open to deception

There are many things you can do other than daydream this time away. Write down your ideas and plan and map out your future. The dreams you create today will inspire hope for the future. Once your plan has been set, find your coordinates. Take the second start to the right and go straight on until morning. Let your north star guide you to your wildest dreams but keep it realistic. Nothing kills optimism like over doing it.

Influence on Suites

During a reading, pay attention to the majority of the cards that are present. Depending on the number of Tarot cards of each suite, the meaning of the card can take a different shape.

With a majority of the suit of cups in a spread with The Star: An intuitive approach is the best approach to your ideal and will come in its best form naturally.

If wands are dominating the reading: Your drive can make or break you; “Burn bright or Fade Away” kind of situation. Slow, steady persistence will yield better results than your live fast die-hard methods.

With Pentacles seemingly omnipresent in the spread:There is a plethora of dreams you wish would materialize. Write them all down and determine which one you want to dedicate yourself to.

If swords surround the reading: The perception you have on this situation is over-idealistic, your dreams may need more thorough planning before materializing.

The Star Reversed

“”The secret is not to give up hope. It’s very hard not to because if you’re really doing something worthwhile I think you will be pushed to the brink of hopelessness before you come through the other side.”
–  George Lucas

Despair, discouragement, dogma

In the Reversed position, you can turn the meaning of The Star upside down and inside out, or it can be perceived as something else. Reversed cards can be read a few different ways. If you want to know the source of the concept of why this card is defined the way it is, check out the article “Reading Reversals” in Chapter 6 of this knowledge base.

If you simply want to know the reason and not the method of deciphering, here are some possible ways to read the card in reversed.

Deciphering The Star reversed

A Weak Point

The star in this position symbolizes one of the lowest points in your life. After experiencing the event that changed your world as you know it, you’re struggling to find the positivity in it. It is an extremely uncomfortable position to be in, to the point where it almost seems easier to have all you flesh stripped from your bones. You’re stressed, full of tension and have no one and no where to turn to.

Inability to enjoy your accomplishments

Maybe you just broke through on a major milestone as a person in capitalistic society; you got a degree, you got a house, you had a kid, you got married. In this sense The Star Reversed symbolizes that you are unable to enjoy the things you worked so hard for. Whether that degree has left you in staggering debt, and you have no working experience in the field of your study causing you to lose hope. Perhaps you had your first child and are experiencing throws of postpartum depression (especially if The Empress Reversed is present). Regardless, this is a hard point you didn’t expect to reach in your achievement.

Catharsis before healing

In the event you just experienced something traumatic, The Star reversed will let you know. This would be more apparent is the Six of Swords Reversed  is present. You are in a small tizzy; your mind is unraveling; you are dealing with the unpacking of everythign that occurred. Whether escaping an abusive relationship or downsizing your living situation, you’re going to have a moment of darkness before you become comfortable again

Discouragement

In this way, the star embodies the Four of Cups, the universe offered you a solution but it’s not the one you wanted. You are let down that things didn’t play out the way you imagined them to. Try your hardest to make the most of this situation, or be dragged by it.

Emotional Vampire

An emotional vampire is someone who sucks the life out of you. There could be someone in your life that is going to push you over the edge with the way they exhaust you exponentially. They will ask too much of you, push your buttons, and ultimately leave you in a state of disarray. In short you’re about to run into a sociopath whose going to make you a target for destruction. On the brighter side, this wouldn’t be the case if you were seen as anything but competition to them. You challenge their narrative, and their growth and that’s why you’re in this position.

Change your perspective

Not all is lost, you can still rebuild. Just because you are down and out doesn’t mean you will be down forever. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it burned in one and it still stands today. This is your comeback saga, you can comeback bigger, better, faster, stronger. Upgrade your defenses, increase your faculties. Reemerge from this period as the culmination of all your favorite versions of yourself. Become something to be proud of.

This is a moment of internal opposition, not permanent bondage.. You will see the light again.

Stuck in Crisis Mode / Hopelessness after upheaval

Something triggers your nervous system and you’re struggling to turn it off. This likely this will end up being a greater challenge to overcome than you ever imagined. This situation could have left you with some PTSD that you will have to overcome on top of rebuilding your life. Take one thing at a time, fix your life in manageable bites.

This is also an indicator that you are so stuck that you are continuously looking for signs of trouble. You’re paranoid of everyone, worried about everything, and are stuck in a mentality that everyone is out to get you. If the Ten of Swords is present this is an indicator that you have a major trauma brought on by someone else. The real battle here will be learning to trust again
