See You on the Other Side
Reflection
The most foundational way to become a skilled cartomancer is to reflect on your readings. Write everything down. Your deck’s best companion should be the notebook it sits on, and they should never be separated. If it feels right aesthetically, dedicate a single pen or color to this notebook—I personally write exclusively in purple ink for all my readings. Keep the notebook for at least a little while so you can revisit and reflect on your work. Some practitioners ritualistically bury or burn their old notebooks—these acts not only honor the process but also aid memory and deepen understanding. Writing down card meanings manually helps information stick in your mind.
Document everything you feel is relevant: the date of the reading, the deck used, the question asked, any cards that fell during shuffling, the number of suits, monarchs, and major arcana cards, each card’s position and meaning, how you perceive its influence, relevant events or circumstances surrounding the reading, and anything that resonates intuitively. Over time, the notes will become richer, and your notebook may start to resemble someone deciphering an ancient code.
Each reader experiences Tarot differently. Some receive flashes of information, others feel insights in their emotions and intuition, and some see vivid imagery of potential futures. Card definitions are guidelines, not rules. Over time, your personal interpretations may evolve beyond traditional dialects, becoming uniquely your own.
Consistency is key. Pull a card daily if possible, even just one, or perform a Celtic Cross weekly. For short-term readings, look ahead a few days or weeks and track how events unfold. Accept that timing may be imperfect; delays and detours are part of life’s natural rhythm.
Regularly review your readings. Observing patterns and outcomes strengthens intuition. Note how cards aligned with real events. Dictate which court cards appear as the people in your life. Compare repeated cards to understand relationships and patterns. Reflect weekly, and at least once a month, to prevent information from fading. By connecting symbols to real-life experiences, you will cultivate intuitive flashes and deepen your personal connection to the deck.
Let everything inspire you. Find light in the darkness, even in small moments. Every individual carries limitless potential, and your spiritual practice is a path to personal clarity, guidance, and happiness. Tarot is your compass when the way forward is unclear. It teaches patience, self-reflection, and the courage to pursue your authentic path.
Good morning. Welcome to the Age of Aquarius.
I hope you find what you’re looking for out there. I hope you figure out your heart, I hope you figure out your mind. I hope you learn to be kind to yourself, how to embrace the journey you are on. I hope you learn how to be proud of where you are– even if it’s not exactly where you want to be. I hope you learn to fall in love with the process, with the messiness of life and the confusion of it all.
At the end of the day, I hope your life inspires you.
